How a local business gets more reviews with less staff time.

Ask for a review the same day as a good visit, with one link that opens your Google review box, and send a short note to regulars who have not been back. Both run on their own once you write the words. In Grand Rapids, KeenHand, Aaron Byrne's AI consultancy, helps owner-led businesses set that up.

Why reviews and repeat visits slip

The best moment to ask for a review is right after a good visit, which is exactly when staff are with the next customer. The regular who stopped coming leaves no signal at all; noticing takes a list nobody keeps.

What you can do this week on your own

  1. Get your review link. Google Business Profile gives you a short link that opens the review box directly.
  2. Ask the same day. By text or email after the visit, in your words, with that one link.
  3. Ask everyone the same way. Never offer anything for a review, never write one for a customer, and never ask only the happy ones.
  4. Reply to every review. AI can draft the reply; a person reads it and posts it.
  5. Notice who stopped coming. A list of customers with no visit in a few months, and one short note from you.

Where KeenHand fits

If reviews and repeat visits are where your hours go, the free quiz shows where you stand on marketing and reviews next to the rest of your business, in about three minutes. The AI Opportunity Assessment starts with a 45-minute discovery call about how your business runs. You get a report with 3–7 specific tools and a 4-day quick-start plan, walked through on a 30-minute review call within four business days. Then you choose who runs the fix: you, you with a Fractional AI Director, or KeenHand's AI Managed Agents.

Straight answers

Can I ask only my happy customers?
No. Google's rules do not allow screening customers before asking for a review. Ask everyone the same way and handle complaints when they come.
Do I need a review platform?
Not always. Dedicated review tools bundle requests with messaging and reports. If your booking or invoicing tool can already send a message after a visit, that may be enough. The assessment checks what you have first.
How fast should I reply to reviews?
Within a few days, good or bad. A reply shows the next reader that a person is paying attention.
